Laws on Tax Exemptions for Demining Machine Components Have Entered Into Force

Laws No. 3853-IX and No. 3854-IX, which amend the Tax and Customs Codes of Ukraine to provide exemptions from customs duties and value-added tax on the import of components for the production of mechanized demining machines, have entered into force.

These laws also exempt the import of energy equipment from taxation, including power generation equipment, equipment for wind and solar generation, and batteries (except low-capacity batteries).

The Ukrainian Association of Humanitarian Demining Operators, which played a key role in developing these laws, provided advocacy and legal support for these legislative initiatives.

These laws are expected to create favorable conditions for the production of mechanized demining machines in Ukraine. Currently, 144,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory are contaminated by mines and other remnants of war. Mechanized demining will expedite the process of clearing Ukraine of mine contamination, allowing the land to be returned to economic use as quickly as possible.
